YES! This game (and the slightly more awesome counterpart Cross Country Canada) was a big part of me getting into computers. I cannot wait!



And on a rather sad note. Craft magazine is the latest victim of the economic downturn. Hopefully the website and blog will live on.

happy early valentines!

thanks to my mom (her birthday is Feb 14th), valentines is one of my favourite holidays. ok, i know, i like a lot of holidays - this girl likes decorations! but back to valentines - it has never been a romantic date thing - never any "i don't have a boyfriend angst" - to me valentines is all about heart shaped sugar cookies and little cut out paper valentines you hand out ....... so. much. fun! and yes i still handout valentines. i say it's because i lead a brownie troupe (think of the sad little brownie faces with no valentines!) but (cough) it's really because i love it. this year i have some ones that come with little jewels that you can wear on your cheek - hoorah for sparkly things.

baking wise i'm making mini-chocolate cupcakes with tiny heart sprinkles for frostbite. oooooooo and also in the kitchen look what my lovely boyfriend got me for v.day!squeal! yes it is a cast iron enamel pot! i few years ago i found a Le Creuset (in classic flame) in a thrift shop in here in Whitehorse. for a mear $15. love that pot. now i have this beautiful rich red one too! it's a great size (almost twice the size of my flame one). Patrick gave it to me early as i made a big south african style stew last night. yum. i'm thrilled and he loved the dinner

i really like the back - all the waist shaping was done here - although this photo makes it look a bit lumpy!

while i'm still not 100% about this sweater - as i said before it's the chunk factor - it is cozy and the colour is pretty. oh and i think the sleeves are cute too!

oh hai!
so i've been a busy bee trying to get updated on all the stuff that has gone on the past year. It's been fun finding all my pictures, uploading them and writing little bits of the trip. I've done this all because I received the nicest loveliest camera for Christmas and it's inspired me to take more pictures. So I will have more to share.. I just want to get caught up a little before that.

Lunenburg

Lunenburg is where the battery in my camera died.. I managed to get these shots done and then "borrowed" my sisters camera for the rest of the trip.
Lunenburg was a Germanic settlement and all the churches around town attest to it. We did a fair bit of walking and exploring around this UNESCO world heritage site.. making the necessary stops at the Bluenose II and the Maritime Museum. More pictures and posts from the trip will happen in March when my sister comes to town with her pictures.

Mary and I got really excited about staying in this Inn - the oldest continuously operating Inn in Canada and the most original eighteenth century Inn in North America. Our parents were not as impressed with the lack of central heating.

i couldn't resist sharing this! Yes, it is indeed Darcy's (Colin Firth) portrait from Pemberley, in the BBC adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. needless to say best version ever. and the portrait cracks me up (it recently sold for 12,000 pounds)

oooh by the way I've been listening to classic books while i've been knitting lately. Librivox is a great free site of recordings of books (and poems, essays etc) in the public domain.

Peggy's Cove

We rented a car in Halifax and drove down the coast to Peggy's Cove. If we paid any attention to the guide books we would have gotten there earlier. This small, very small town, bursts with tourists! It's like a tiny Tofino with the same amount of tourists.The lighthouse is totally accessible which is cool and it's also a post office!

I wish I had gotten a shot on the bog of all the erratics (perched boulders) that were left by the glaciers retreat and melt. The whole area was like a moon-scape.
